This seems very out of the blue? But then Amjad from replit reminded me that Anthropic did the same to Windsurf last summer. I was thinking that maybe it is a power trip from OpenAI because they see Cursor as competition.

Doing some research though, I found that apparently back in April Elon admitted xAI was distilling OpenAI to train Grok, so now I wonder if OpenAI is worried they’ll use whatever special access Cursor has based on their partnership to do it again, at a much larger scale.
